National Service Personnel with full-time jobs must report by May 23 – GNSA warns

The Ghana National Service Authority (GNSA) has issued a warning to service personnel who are engaged in full-time employment while undertaking their national service.
Such individuals risk facing sanctions unless they come forward immediately to regularise their status.
According to the Authority, all personnel—especially those employed within the public sector—must report to any GNSA regional office or the head office in Accra. This directive follows the submission of the full enrolment lists for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 service years, including those for general service, nurses, and teachers, to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for verification.
The purpose of the exercise is to identify individuals unlawfully receiving dual incomes—both a salary from employment and allowances from national service—in violation of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119).
The Ghana National Service Authority (GNSA) has set Friday, 23 May 2025, as the deadline for voluntary compliance.
After this deadline, any personnel found to have engaged in such fraudulent activity will face administrative sanctions. These include immediate removal from the national service payroll, possible prosecution, and permanent disqualification from future employment in the public sector.
The Authority is urging all affected individuals to take advantage of this grace period to avoid legal repercussions. It also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting integrity, accountability, and transparency in the management of national service.
