Parliamentary Committee on energy concludes strategic meetings with power sector institutions

The Parliamentary Committee on Energy has wrapped up an intensive three-day engagement with key power sector institutions at the Peduase Valley Resort.

The discussions aimed to align the operational plans of these agencies for 2025 and strengthen collaboration across the sector.

Participants included the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Bui Power Authority, Volta River Authority (VRA), Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), and the Energy Commission.

Over the course of the meetings, stakeholders reviewed the sector’s performance, addressed persistent challenges, and developed strategies to improve operational efficiency and service delivery. A central theme was the need for enhanced coordination among institutions to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply in support of Ghana’s development goals.

During the closing session, several Majority Members of the Committee expressed concern over ongoing power outages, citing their negative impact on businesses, healthcare facilities, and households in their constituencies.

Committee Chairman Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, MP for Ho West, stressed the urgency of collective action.

“The frequent power interruptions are causing significant hardship to our communities. It is imperative that all stakeholders work together immediately to stabilize the electricity supply and relieve the burden on our citizens,” he stated.

The Committee’s engagement represents a vital step toward reinforcing Ghana’s energy infrastructure, with a shared commitment to delivering consistent and efficient power throughout 2025 and beyond.
