Amenfi Central MP invest over 7 million cedis in youth skills training

The MP for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has disclosed that her office has committed over GHC7 million towards skills training and empowerment programmes for the youth in her constituency.

In an interview on Spice FM’s Adekyeɛ Mu Nsɛm Morning Show, she revealed that the decision came after engaging jobless youth during her campaign.

“When I spoke to the youth at Amenfi Central, I realised most of the youth were not doing anything. They told me they wanted to learn a trade, so we brought in machines worth GHC2.7 million, but it wasn’t enough,” she explained. “Just recently, we invested an additional GHC3.6 million.”

She added that beneficiaries are receiving weekly payments to support their training. “We’ve decided to give every individual learning a skill GHC100 every week until they finish,” she stated.

Items distributed include cutlasses for farmers, sewing and hairdressing machines, and streetlights.

Hon. Gyan also announced that the DVLA has approved a new branch in the constituency and expressed hope for more services like a health insurance office.

“I’ll urge youth who have gone to other cities to come back and get involved in the constituency’s development. There’s a lot happening here for their benefit,” she said.
