President Mahama unveils plan to deploy 20,000 graduates to corporate sector

President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled the upcoming launch of the Graduates in Corporate Support programme, a key initiative under his 120-day social contract designed to combat youth unemployment and promote Ghana’s emerging 24-hour economy.

Delivering a national address on Wednesday, May 7, to mark his first 120 days in office, President Mahama announced that the programme will initially place 20,000 young graduates with corporate firms and industries operating around the clock. These placements will provide valuable work experience while driving national economic growth.

He highlighted the programme as a crucial part of his broader plan to create jobs and equip Ghana’s youth with essential skills.

To support this initiative, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is collaborating with the Police, Fire, and Immigration services to bolster security for companies operating 24 hours a day. In addition, the government is preparing to train and deploy 23,000 new security recruits to ensure a safe environment for these businesses.

President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to honoring the commitments made in the 120-day social contract, noting measurable progress in multiple sectors.

“We made a pact with the people of Ghana, and we are delivering on it with urgency and accountability,” he affirmed.

The Graduates in Corporate Support programme is poised to be a transformative initiative for young Ghanaians and the national economy, aligning with the government’s vision of a dynamic 24-hour economy.
