The Ghana Police Service has formally requested that the Speaker of Parliament release Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin to assist with investigations into a viral video that allegedly depicts the Minority Leader assaulting a police officer during a recent demonstration.
According to a statement from the Police, multiple video recordings of the incident have been reviewed, leading to the decision to further involve the Member of Parliament in the investigation.
The officer allegedly assaulted in the footage has also been requested to participate in the ongoing inquiry to help establish the facts of the case.
