24-Hour Economy- Government to launch 3 mega factories, creating 27,000 jobs

The government, in partnership with the private sector, plans to establish three state-of-the-art government-owned factories, each designed to employ 3,000 people per shift.

This initiative is expected to generate a total of 27,000 jobs as part of the 24-hour economy policy.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, during the second edition of the Kwahu Business Forum.

She also noted that upcoming policy measures will strengthen local pharmaceutical and automotive manufacturing industries, while offering targeted support to empower women and youth.

“The ministry is promoting strategic value addition, reviving different industries, and scaling up production for both domestic and international markets. Under this initiative, we aim to establish, with the help of the private sector, three state-of-the-art garment factories, each with the capacity to provide 3,000 jobs per shift,, creating a total of 27,000 jobs under the twenty-four-hour economy policy.

“We are also set to launch the pharmaceutical manufacturing development policy, offering robust incentives to encourage local production of essential medicines. I invite our pharmaceutical stakeholders to see the opportunity and scale up operations for the local and export markets. “

“The ministry is currently finalizing a component manufacturing policy to support the automotive sector, with a special call to our industry power dealers at Obossey Okai, Kokompe, and Suame Magazine to consider investment in vehicle component manufacturing. In line with our inclusive development goals, we are rolling out targeted initiatives to empower women and youth through access to funding, skills training, and market access.”
