Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID).
The election took place during the Bank’s 23rd Annual General Meeting, held in Banjul, The Gambia.

Outlining his vision for EBID’s future, Dr. Forson presented a four-pillar strategy aimed at boosting resource mobilization, improving capital recovery, expanding non-regional partnerships, and transforming EBID into the leading development finance institution in West Africa.
He acknowledged the pressing economic challenges facing the sub-region but emphasized that they also open the door to meaningful reform and long-term growth.
Dr. Forson also praised EBID President Dr. George Agyekum Donkor for his leadership, and thanked outgoing Chairman Seedy Keita for his valuable contributions to the Bank’s progress.
Reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to EBID’s mission, Dr. Forson called for solidarity and a shared vision to drive development and self-reliance across the region.
In a post on Facebook, he expressed his excitement, stating:
