EKMA Health Directorate sensitises public on IPV 2

The Municipal Health Directorate of EKMA is admonishing caregivers and parents to ensure their wards are immunized against polio.

At a press briefing, the Municipal Health Director, Mrs. Joyce K. Bagina, said the Inactivated Polio Vaccine, IPV 2, is to provide stronger protection against polio.

She added that IPV is safe and effective in the eradication of polio.

The ongoing vaccination is administered to the right thigh of children who are 7 months old.

Madam Bagina added that the endgame plan of the vaccination is to eradicate all forms of polioviruses.

She advised that even after the child receives IPV, caregivers should continue to accept the oral polio vaccine (OPV) whenever it is offered.

Madam Bagina made a clarion call for all to help the service eradicate polio by the end of 2030.
