The National Security Council Secretariat has formally requested the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to assist in evacuating 706 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
A confidential letter, signed by National Security Coordinator Osman Abdul-Razak, directs that the containers be transported to the National Security warehouse in Abelemkpe.
The letter also mandates that all port charges on the containers be suspended while ongoing investigations take place.
Dated March 27, 2025, the letter was also copied to the Minister of Transport and the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
While the reasons for the investigation and the contents of the containers remain undisclosed, the directive indicates a significant security interest in the matter. Authorities are expected to release more information as the situation unfolds.
