Man convicted for assaulting journalists in Adumanya-Western Region

The Asankragwa District Court has convicted Daniel Baidoo for assaulting a group of journalists in Adumanya, near Asankran Breman, in the Western Region.

Baidoo was found guilty on March 26, 2025, and sentenced to 300 penalty units, totaling GH₵3,600. If he fails to pay the fine, he will face one year of hard labor in prison.

The incident occurred on February 21, 2025, when Baidoo attacked the journalists. Upon his arrest by the Western Central Regional Police Command, a Panasonic Lumix camera and an iPhone, both belonging to the victims, were recovered.

The case has sparked widespread concern within the media community, with calls for stronger protections for journalists while carrying out their duties.
