Mpohor NDC upset over exclusion of preferred DCE nominee

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch executives in the Mpohor constituency are unhappy about the removal of Nana Antwi Wireko from the District Chief Executive (DCE) position race.

They believe Nana Wireko is the ideal candidate due to the constituency’s unique geographical and political dynamics.

The Mpohor zone is divided into two areas: the upstream and the downstream. The top stream includes areas like Mpohor, Ayiem, and Dominase, while the downstream includes areas like Manso, Botodwena, and Angu.

At a press conference in Manso today, Stephen Doku, branch chairman of the Anglican Polling Station at Manso, said executives are concerned that the three individuals shortlisted for national vetting are from the upstream, which could lead to the marginalization of the downstream area.

They think Nana Wireko, who is from the downstream, is the best candidate due to his significant contributions to the party’s historic victory in the Mpohor Constituency.

He added that they also do not want to repeat the mistakes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Kofi Annan, a branch executive member, added that the Western Regional Chairman, Nana Toku, and Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, promised the Manso community that they would offer the DCE position to the community if the party won the election. The executives are holding the party leadership to this promise.
