The Chamber of Agribusiness has praised the government’s efforts to reduce the country’s import bill.
According to the Ghana Statistical Service’s 2024 Annual Trade Report, the country recorded an import bill of 250.2 billion cedis.
Anthony Morrison, CEO of the Chamber, emphasized that the government’s clear and strategic focus on the agriculture-for-economic-transformation initiative will help shift the current narrative.
He highlighted key programs such as the Fit-Ghana project, irrigation development, and value-addition strategies as essential steps toward achieving the desired outcomes.
Mr. Morrison urged strong political and public support to drive these initiatives, which aim to boost food production, reduce costs, and close import gaps.
“Agriculture for economic transformation is clear, you’ll see it though, the intention is clear. What is most important now is the political will and the public will to support the project. Under the agriculture for transformation, we have the ‘Feed Ghana’ project. “
