In a symbolic and momentous ceremony, the Past OLA Girls’ Association (POGA) 2001 year group has officially taken over from POGA 1999 and 2000, ushering in a new chapter in the legacy of OLA Girls Senior High School, Ho.

The Baton Handover Ceremony, which took place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at OLA Kpodzi, marks the beginning of POGA 2001’s journey toward their 25th-anniversary celebrations in 2026.

The Baton Handover Tradition, introduced in 2015 by POGA ‘89/91, has become a defining event that fosters continuity and shared responsibility among OLA’s alumnae.

This ceremony symbolizes the ongoing commitment of past students to uphold the school’s legacy while encouraging each generation to leave an indelible mark on their alma mater.

In her passionate acceptance speech, Clara Nyarkoah Anim, President of the POGA 2001 Year Group, emphasized the group’s excitement and readiness to take up the mantle of leadership.

“We proudly accept the baton from our predecessors, the 1999 and 2000 year groups, as we prepare to celebrate our milestone anniversary next year! We have been ready since! As the Pioneer Pinky POGs, we are honored to take the baton and unleash our Pinky Power! To us, Pinky Power means being fearless, confident, empowered, resilient, brilliant, compassionate, and breathtakingly beautiful women who are unstoppable, courageous, and trailblazing,” she declared.

She assured their predecessors that POGA 2001 is committed to building on the strong foundation laid by previous year groups.

The group’s vision is clear, “to leave an unforgettable legacy”.

“We promise to continue from where you have left off, and we will surely make you proud. We will definitely paint OLA, and for that matter Ho in blue, white, gold, and of course, a touch of pink come next year,” she stated.

POGA 2001 is set to embark on a year-long journey to plan and execute a Legacy Project in collaboration with POGA Global, the mother body of OLA’s alumnae network.

This initiative will culminate in the grand 72nd Speech and Prize Giving Day in 2026, where the impact of POGA 2001’s contributions will be unveiled.

This momentous occasion also marked the POGA 1999 and 2000’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, honoring their unwavering commitment and dedication to the school.

The two groups were recognized for their remarkable contributions through awards and tributes, ensuring that their legacy remains an inspiration for generations to come.

As POGA 2001 year group prepare for their milestone anniversary, they are calling on all individuals, groups, media and corporate organizations to partner with them in making the 72nd Speech and Prize Giving Day a historic event.

“On behalf of POGA 2001, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to the past students of Bishop Herman College, Kpando, especially the BHOBU 2001 year group and everyone who came out to support this celebration. As we prepare for our milestone anniversary, we invite all POGA members -globally, individuals, groups, the media, and corporate organizations to partner with us in making the 72nd Speech and Prize Giving Day a truly historic event,” Clara Nyarkoah Anim concluded.
