In a sharp critique of the Finance Minister’s budget presentation in Parliament today, Minority Leader Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin accused the government of presenting what he described as an “Azaah” or misleading budget.
Afenyo-Markin’s comments followed the presentation of Part 2 of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s budget, which he argued failed to effectively address key economic concerns.
“This is nothing more than part two of the NDC’s ongoing lamentations,” Afenyo-Markin stated, expressing disappointment with the government’s fiscal proposals.
He pointed out that the budget lacked concrete, actionable plans to resolve Ghana’s economic challenges and claimed it represented a continuation of the government’s pattern of evading responsibility.
His remarks come amid growing scrutiny of the government’s budget, with opposition figures calling for stronger measures to tackle the country’s fiscal and economic difficulties.
As the debate deepens, both sides are expected to continue discussing the budget’s potential to foster long-term national development.
