Energy Commission deploys inspectors to enforce local content regulations

The Energy Commission has deployed inspectors nationwide to monitor and enforce compliance with local content and participation regulations in the energy sector.

Maame Yaa Tamakloe, Lead Officer at the Local Content and Local Participation Unit of the Energy Commission, warned that businesses found violating these regulations could face legal penalties.

She urged all stakeholders to proactively align with the local content framework, highlighting that compliance will not only strengthen the energy industry but also support the growth of the national economy.

“As much as possible, we encourage them to comply. But encouragement does not just end there because it’s a law, and so it is a must for them to comply. But then we understand that there are also certain challenges that they may have, which makes it difficult for them to comply maybe immediately or ever. In dealing with them, first of all, we need to make them understand why the regulations are in place. What is six to do?

So that they take steps on their own to ensure compliance with the provisions of the regulations. The airline provides that we have inspectors that go round to these entities to ensure that they are compliant with the regulations. And then finally, the law imposes penalties for noncompliance. These are some of the ways that we use to ensure compliance of the regulations. “
