
Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson has expressed deep concerns about the alarming state of Ghana’s railway sector, which is on the verge of collapse, and its devastating effects on the local economy of Sekondi-Takoradi.
He emphasized that the decline of the railway sector has caused significant disruptions to interconnected industries and economic activities in the Western Region.
He said revitalizing the infrastructure would rejuvenate Sekondi-Takoradi’s economy, spur growth across the region, and generate employment opportunities.
Minister Nelson remains hopeful about the future of Ghana’s railway sector, despite its current decline, Mahama’s government pledge to work with stakeholders to revitalize the industry.

He emphasized the pivotal role rail transport has played in Ghana’s history, serving as a backbone of national transportation systems and a catalyst for local economic growth for generations.
The Minister emphasized that revitalizing the railway sector is now crucial due to its significant decline, which has had a ripple effect on other industries in the Western Region, ultimately impacting local communities.
