Indian High Commissioner to Ghana visits Foreign Affairs Minister
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa welcomed the High Commissioner of India to Ghana, His Excellency Manish Gupta, to the Ministry, on February 25, 2025.
The High Commissioner had paid a courtesy call on the Minister. During the meeting, H.E. Gupta reaffirmed India’s commitment to further strengthen its bilateral relations with Ghana, with an emphasis on enhancing cooperation across various sectors for mutual benefit.
He indicated how Ghana and India could deepen collaboration within the framework of the International Big Cat Alliance, convened by India.
He further advocated for the revival of the India-Ghana Permanent Joint Consultative Committee (PJCC) and continued engagement of the Trade Committee. He also stressed on India’s continued support in providing scholarships for Ghanaians in critical disciplines such as STEM, Finance, Health Sciences, and Technical Education.
Hon. Ablakwa, in his response, expressed Ghana’s enthusiasm in joining the International Big Cat Alliance, acknowledging the significance of wildlife conservation. He also welcomed the revival of the PJCC to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
He further extended his gratitude for the scholarships provided by the Indian government, emphasising the vital role these opportunities play in developing Ghana’s human capital.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship and exploring new avenues for cooperation that will benefit both nations.
