Former Minister Joseph Cudjoe urges indigenes to prioritize Western Region’s development

Former Minister for Public Enterprises Joseph Cudjoe has charged indigenes with prioritising the development of the region.

According to him, excessive complaints directed at authorities would not change anything, if actions do not back words.

Speaking to Beach News at an event organised by the Western Regional Chapter of the GJA, under the theme: Redefining the Development Agenda; Collaborative Strategies for the Sustainable Growth of the Western Region, Mr. Joseph Cudjoe noted that, individuals should also have the growth of the Region at heart, and do their bit in that regard.

He touched on how people can add value to themselves to secure a better future.
He commended the leadership of GJA for the event organised to deliberate on the region.

” It’s a program that had been put together and organized and well delivered by journalists. And so they comprise a huge resource to carry the ideas that have been thrown out here and disseminate them consistently, constantly until people begin to appreciate those ideas that have been put here. And that will begin to curtail the excessive complaints that are not taking us anywhere. Because people should go beyond complaining to acting on the problems in their corner. Is this sanitation? “

” Is the road in front of you clean? Is it a job? Can you begin to do something beyond employment application? Because like I said, my mom never stepped into the classroom, but she never became unemployed. But my dad who served in the classroom rather became unemployed,”

” So what does it tell us that there’s a way of engaging yourself, and let’s learn from the plenty of ideas that have flown here? So I look forward to this being organized,”

Paramount Chief of Gwira Banso Awulae Tu-Agyan II said the region is endowed with natural resources yet lacks development as one of the main contributors to Gross Domestic Product, GDP.

He called on the natives of the region to embrace unity and team up for the growth of the Region and not look out for personal interests.

Desmond Cudjoe, the President of the GJA, said that as an Association, with a keen interest in the development of the region, it was vital for them to bring together relevant stakeholders to discuss ways to ensure the Western Region become the development hub in the country.
