GIBA urges members to comply with Broadcasting authorizations and ongoing audit

The Executive Council of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) has issued a statement urging its members to adhere strictly to terms and conditions associated with broadcasting authorizations.
This comes after the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Technology ordered the closure of seven radio stations on the grounds of broadcasting without authorization and security requirements.
In a statement dated February 20 and signed by Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, the President of GIBA, the association believes complying with the terms and conditions associated with broadcasting authorization is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the broadcasting sector.
“We strongly encourage all members of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) and broadcasters to adhere strictly to the terms and conditions associated with their granted
broadcasting authorizations. Compliance is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the broadcasting
sector”, part of the statement reads.
It continues that, ‘GIBA is actively engaging with the NCA regarding this audit exercise and remains committed to supporting its members.”
GIBA says its Secretariat is available to assist any member or broadcasters facing regulatory challenges and therefore must not hesitate to reach out for guidance and support.
