Takoradi: Residents praise President Mahama’s asset declaration as a step towards transparency and accountability

The majority of Ghanaians have welcomed President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to publicly declare his assets, praising the move as a significant step towards transparency in his government.
This comes after President Mahama submitted his asset declaration forms, setting a precedent for openness in governance.
President Mahama urged all public office holders to comply with the law, warning that failure to declare assets by March 31, 2025, would result in severe sanctions, including possible removal from office.
President Mahama’s commitment to transparency is not new, as he vowed to require all appointees in his administration to declare their assets within 30 days of taking office.
However, a cross-section of the public in the Metropolis expressed support for making asset declarations public, arguing that it would increase transparency and allow citizens to track changes in officials’ wealth over time.
This move is seen as a crucial step towards promoting accountability and good governance in the country.
