Ken Ofori-Atta is ‘traumatized’ by the accusations – Afenyo-Markin asserts

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has revealed that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is reportedly traumatised by the accusations against him.

Afenyo-Markin made this disclosure in Parliament on Thursday, sharing that he had spoken directly with Ofori-Atta, who expressed this to him.

“He’s traumatised by the labelling of the adjectives described to his person. But he still knows that his God is with him. He’s undergoing some medical procedure,” the Minority Leader told the House.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor recently announced that Ofori-Atta is wanted in connection with several corruption-related investigations. However, the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Afenyo-Markin, reassured Parliament that the former minister had not fled the country, but had traveled abroad with proper authorization for medical reasons.

“I had an early morning engagement with the Chief of Staff, who confirmed that Ofori-Atta wrote to him. He would come, and if there is anything that has to be investigated, he will make himself available.”

The controversy surrounding Ken Ofori-Atta escalated following a joint police and military raid on his private residence in Cantonments earlier this week.

However, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has called the raid “regrettable and unfortunate.”

Speaking in Parliament, Hon. Ayariga revealed that the operation was reportedly led by someone believed to be linked to the National Security Coordinator’s office.

The Bawku Central MP also apologized to Ofori-Atta, reaffirming the government’s dedication to protecting fundamental human rights, including privacy and property rights.
