President John Mahama has announced that “Ghana is open for business again,” encouraging Chinese investors to explore new economic opportunities in the country.
He made the statement at the Chinese Lantern Festival Gala in Accra, a celebration of Chinese culture and the 65th anniversary of Ghana-China diplomatic relations.
Addressing an audience of government officials, business leaders, and members of the Chinese community in Ghana, President Mahama emphasized the nation’s dedication to creating a more favorable investment climate.
He underscored the significant contributions of Chinese businesses to Ghana’s economic growth, particularly in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and trade.
“China has been a key development partner of Ghana, contributing to critical sectors such as energy, health, and education,”
President Mahama said. “As we rebuild our economy, I invite our Chinese investor community to look at the opportunities Ghana has to offer so we can create a win-win situation for our two people,” he said at the University of Ghana stadium on Sunday, February 9.
He highlighted that Ghana’s longstanding ties with China had developed into a strategic partnership, benefiting both countries through trade, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange. He also recognized the increasing number of Ghanaian businesses seeking opportunities in China, which further deepens the economic connection.
Amid global uncertainties, as Ghana works to revive its economy, President Mahama reassured investors of the government’s dedication to creating a business-friendly environment. He emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration in technology transfer, industrialization, and education, stressing that mutual growth is key to sustainable development.
