President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his dedication to improving the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program, promising to tackle its challenges and enhance educational outcomes.
During his ‘Thank You Tour’ in the Central Region on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Mr. Mahama emphasized the importance of education as a central priority.
He shared plans to reinforce the Free SHS policy by securing dedicated funding and decentralizing food procurement to ensure more effective management.
“Education will remain a priority and we will work to provide the best possible learning environment for our children at all levels.
And ensure that our youth have the skills needed to compete in the global economy. We plan to improve the Free SHS programme to secure dedicated funding and decentralised food procurement.”
President Mahama also revealed plans to implement a “no academic fees” policy to assist continuing students financially.
Furthermore, he committed to expanding infrastructure in tertiary institutions to better accommodate the growing student population.
