President John Dramani Mahama has nominated the first batch of deputy ministers to serve in various ministries, pending parliamentary approval.
A press release signed by Felix Kwakue Ofosu, the president’s spokesperson, stated that the nominations were made in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the Constitution.
Among the nominees are Thomas Nyarko Ampem for the Ministry of Finance, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi for the Ministry of the Interior, and Ernest Brogya Genfi for the Ministry of Defence.
Clement Abas Apaak has been nominated for the Ministry of Education, while Richard Gyan-Mensah will take up a position at the Ministry of Energy & Green Transition.
Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini has been nominated for the Ministry of Roads & Highways, and Justice Srem-Sai for the Ministry of Justice & Attorney General. Yusif Sulemana will serve at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, while Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has been nominated for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy & Religious Affairs.
Gizella Tettey-Agbotui has been nominated for the Ministry of Works, Housing & Water Resources, and Yussif Issaka Jajah for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts. John Kofi Setor Dumelo will serve at the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, and Samson Ahi at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry. Additionally, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba has been nominated as Minister of State in charge of Public Sector Reforms.
These nominations are part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve efficiency across key sectors. However, they will be subject to parliamentary vetting before the nominees can officially take up their roles.
