Acting Governor of BoG, pledges to uphold Central Bank’s independence

The Acting Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiamah, has reiterated his commitment to safeguarding the independence of the Central Bank.

In a media briefing following his appointment, Dr. Asiamah expressed confidence in effectively executing the bank’s core mandate.

He assured Ghanaians of a seamless transition and emphasized his dedication to ensuring stability within the financial sector.

His remarks highlight a firm commitment to preserving the integrity and autonomy of the nation’s central bank.

“We as enforcing our independence as a central bank, the public must see us as working together. It’s just another transition, which is normal. The good thing is some of the people here, people, we know already. And so the transition, you can be sure, will be smooth.

We are just touching base, getting updated on issues. As the days unfold, we’ll get to other things. We have held a number of discussions already between ourselves: some briefing has gone on, and so far so good.

We can be sure that everything will be fine. We are focused on our mandate, and that is what matters. And so you can look forward, towards executing our mandate,”
