WAEC official dies amidst confrontation with parents over withheld WASSCE results
A tragedy struck at the Sekondi West African Examination Council (WAEC) office when Joseph Agyemang, known as Papa Bruno, a WAEC official suddenly collapsed and passed away during a heated meeting with parents over withheld WASSCE results.
On the morning of Thursday, January 30,2025, tension ran high at WAEC offices as invited parents and students, seeking resolution on withheld results, clashed with council officials.
According to Rev. Father Canon Wryter, who is a parent and a witness to the incident, the altercation began when WAEC officials asked affected students to come into a designated room in turns for questioning over the withheld paper without their parents, which did not go down well with the parents.
As the tensions mounted, the situation spiraled out of control, and in the heat of the exchange, Mr Agyemang suddenly collapsed while attempting to reason with the parents.
Rev Father Canon Wryter urged WAEC to expedite a resolution to the issue, citing the time sensitive nature of university admissions, which have already closed, leaving impacted students in limbo.
