Former NPP MP Gifty Klenam joins NDC

Former Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim on the ticket of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gifty Klenam has switched to the ruling National Democratic Congress.

She has defected from the NPP after securing her NDC membership card in the Anlo constituency in Volta region.

Addressing a group of pressmen, Gifty Klenam indicated that her switch aligns with her values and ambition for Ghana.

“Upon consultation with my family, I decided to join the NDC because it aligns with my values and vision for mother Ghana,” she stated.

Klenam was a member of the NPP and was first elected as MP for Lower West Akim Constituency in the 2008. She was re-elected in the 2012 before losing her bid in the NPP primaries to Eyiah Kyei-Baffour in 2015.

Throughout the 2024 elections, Gifty Klenam campaigned for Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng who also left the NPP after losing the bid to contest in the presidential election.

Before switching to active politics, Gifty Klenam was an industrialist and farmer – she was the CEO of Sunharvest Company Limited sited in Pokuase.
