Ghana football hasn’t collapsed under current GFA – Alhaji Raji

Former Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Alhaji Raji has squashed the assertion that football under the Kurt Okraku -led Ghana Football Association has collapsed.

According to him, even though the national teams, particularly the Black Stars have not lived up to the billing under the current administration, performance of the GFA is not that bad.

“I don’t believe that Kurt Okraku’s administration has been bad and football has collapsed under his administration,” he told a local radio station in Accra.

“The only challenge is the poor performance of the Black Stars. He has not been bad as GFA president,” he added.

But under the Kurt Okraku-led administration, Ghana suffered back-to-back group phase exits at the 2021 and 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon and Ivory Coast respectively.

Again, for the first time in many years, Ghana failed to secure a qualification to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco after finishing at the bottom in a group of Sudan, Angola and Niger.
