Annor-Dompreh expresses displeasure over bribery allegations against Appointments Committee
The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annor-Dompreh has strongly reacted to bribery allegations levelled against the Appointments Committee by activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor.
Mr. Barker – Vormawor, the #Fixthecountry convenor had alleged that members of the Appointments Committee demand money from ministerial nominees in exchange of their approval. This claim has strongly been denied by the Minority who even decided to boycott proceedings until an action is taken.
Expressing his displeasure, Hon Annor-Dompreh who is a member of the Appointments Committee believes it will only be prudent for vetting to be suspended until after the allegation is dealt with by the Committee.
“The internment is not to obstruct government business. These allegations are one too many. We value our reputation and so we cannot vet today. If the majority does not value their reputation, the minority does,” he said when the committee sat to vet Defence Minister designate Dr Edward Omane Boamah on Tuesday January 28.
The committee has invited Mr Barker-Vormawor, who is also a legal practitioner to address his claim since it put dent on the image of Parliament.
He is expected to appear before the committee on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
