Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare vows to boost ‘Made in Ghana’ agenda if approved

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industries, has vowed to champion the National Democratic Congress’ “Made in Ghana” initiative, should she be approved by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.

Speaking during her vetting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, she reaffirmed her dedication to reducing imports and boosting local production.

In response to questions about her approach to advancing the “Made in Ghana” agenda, Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare underscored the importance of consuming locally grown foods like yam, cassava, and plantain as a strategy to decrease reliance on foreign imports.

“If we consume what we grow, we will see a significant reduction in imports,” she remarked.

She also reflected on her previous work as Minister for Tourism, where she actively promoted Ghanaian products by encouraging local industry players to showcase them to both domestic and international markets.

“During my time as Minister for Tourism, I worked to highlight the richness of our local products and urged industry players to share our goods with the world,” she said.

Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare called on Ghanaians to support the “Made in Ghana” movement by purchasing locally made products, promising to further strengthen these efforts if entrusted with the position of Minister.
