EC announces nomination process for regional representatives to the council of state
The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially launched the nomination process for candidates seeking election as Regional Representatives to the Council of State, in accordance with paragraph (C), Clause (2) of Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution.
Eligible candidates are required to submit their completed nomination forms, along with two recent bust-sized photographs (showing their full face and ears) against a red background.
Nomination submissions will be accepted at the offices of the respective regional directors from Tuesday, January 28 to Friday, January 31, 2025. Submission hours are 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the specified dates.
As per the EC’s guidelines, candidates must have a proposer and seconder, both of whom must be registered voters in the region. In addition, the nomination must be endorsed by 20 other registered voters from the same region, and candidates must provide written consent to their nomination.
Nomination forms are available for download on the EC’s official website, www.ec.gov.gh, and must be completed in triplicate. Completed forms should be submitted to the Regional Director at the designated locations within the given timeframe.
In a statement signed by the EC chairperson, it was announced that the election of Regional Representatives will be held in all regional capitals on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
