President Mahama unveils new ministerial and regional appointments for parliamentary approval

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted a fresh batch of ministerial and regional appointments to Parliament for approval.

Announced on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, these nominations are part of his ongoing efforts to build a strong team to advance his administration’s objectives.

Puozuing Charles Lwanga has been nominated as the Regional Minister for the Upper West Region, while Joseph Addae Akwaboa and Francis Owusu Antwi have been selected as Regional Ministers for Bono and Bono East, respectively.

For the ministerial positions, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has been proposed for the Ministry of Defence, and Samuel Nartey George is slated to take charge of the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has been appointed to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, while Kofi Iddie Adams is set to lead the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo has been nominated as the Minister of Labour, Jobs, and Employment, with Kwabena Mintah Akandoh tapped for the Ministry of Health. Ibrahim Mutala Mohammed will oversee the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology, while Joseph Bukari Nikpe is expected to head the Ministry of Transport.

Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa have been nominated to lead the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, respectively. Adjei Kenneth Gilbert will head the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources.

Additionally, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum has been appointed as Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives, Felix Kwakye Ofosu as Minister of State for Government Communications, and Issifu Seidu as Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability.

These appointments, which are pending parliamentary approval, reflect the President’s commitment to assembling a team of experienced and capable individuals to help achieve his administration’s goals.
