FOSA 95 A’ level group undertakes major infrastructural development of school block

The President of the 1995 A’level year group of FOSA, Tsatsu Fiadjoe, has revealed the intentions behind the renovation of a 10-unit Junior classroom block at the Fijai High School at Sekondi.

According to him, it was time for alumni to give back to the school, which has shaped them to become useful in society.

At a brief ceremony on the school premises, Mr. Fiadjoe said the group took the initiative because there has not been any major renovation, and that prompted the gesture.

The renovation works include the replacement of classroom doors, plastering of the building, and painting the entire block.

He said, more of such renovation will take place as and when the need arises.

” So we decided to give back to our Alma mata in terms of what they had done for us. So that was the reason why we decided to open this project finish school in June 1995. So, yeah, we’ll say that this is our 30th anniversary.

The year we’re doing some projects, we’re coming together. So the project is one of many projects. Well, it’s an ongoing project, and we are still raising funds. As we announced during our presentation. The block is more like we’ve adopted it.”

“So with our name, it’s embossed in the building. So it’s going to be an ongoing project. You mentioned the dining hall project complex, for example, with a kitchen. You mentioned the assembly hall. These are capital-intensive projects.

So it cannot be a year-group project. It must be a global effort to get these things done. So, when Global brings it on board, my year group will contribute our quota to see through those projects that he wanted. There are many more projects in terms of dormitory renovation, in terms of other classroom blocks renovation, in terms of equipment in other departments. So it’s a whole project that this current global executive and the previous took upon themselves to help the school regain its past glory.

So we’ll consider it when it comes on board. Already, we are supposed to contribute towards the project for the school. That’s we also have to contribute to. So it’s a global initiative. When they bring it on board, we’ll contribute our quota to it as well.”

On his part, the Headmaster of the School, Mr. Kenneth Agbomadzi expressed his delight at the ongoing renovation, underscoring the need to create an enabling and serene atmosphere for pupils.

He mentioned that some of the structures, such as the dining hall complex and the kitchen, amongst others, would need expansion due to the growing numbers of students in the school.

“The rehabilitation means a lot to us. You know, environment is very important when it comes to teaching and learning. When the environment is serene, the students feel comfortable, and they have the sound mind to understand whatever we are teaching them. And, you know, these days it is very difficult for schools to get money to do renovations. So the old students are the ones helping us.”

“So when you look around, all the new buildings or all the newly painted buildings are done by old students, and we are very happy because it is going to boost academic performance.”

So when you look at our dining hall and the kitchen that we have as of now, it was put up way back when the population was even not up to 300, and we are still using these facilities. “

The dining hall was expanded by the then PTA some time ago, but still it is too small. So we need very big facilities. And I’m appealing to the old student not to come, but maybe they can connect with philanthropies or the government because this is a very big project.

We are talking about the kitchen, dining hall complex. It’s a very big project. So all theold students alone may not be able to do it.
