Mahama Ayariga to succeed Ato Forson as Majority Leader
Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central, is set to become Ghana’s next Majority Leader, following Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson’s shift to focus on the Finance Ministry.
According to sources within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), this change comes amid ongoing discussions regarding the party’s parliamentary leadership. Dr. Ato Forson, who was initially appointed Majority Leader, has been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as Minister of Finance, recognizing his expertise in economics.
Ayariga, a seasoned MP known for his strong debating skills and deep understanding of parliamentary procedures, has previously held key roles, including Minister of Environment and Minister of Information. His ability to foster unity among MPs makes him a strong candidate for the position of Majority Leader.
This move reflects the Mahama administration’s approach to strategically leveraging talent across different government sectors.
An official announcement is expected soon.
