President Mahama nominates 10 Regional Ministers for parliamentary approval

President John Dramani Mahama has forwarded a list of nominees for Regional Ministerial positions to Parliament for approval.

The announcement, made on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, was detailed in a letter signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson for the President. The letter also introduces the first group of appointees who will be responsible for driving development initiatives across Ghana’s regions.

Below is the list of nominees and their respective regions:

  1. Northern Region: Ali Adolf John
  2. Oti Region: John Kwadwo Gyapong
  3. Volta Region: James Gunu
  4. Eastern Region: Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey
  5. North-East Region: Ibrahim Tia
  6. Ashanti Region: Dr. Frank Amoakohene
  7. Upper East Region: Akamugri Donatus Atanga
  8. Ahafo Region: Charity Gardiner
  9. Savannah Region: Salisu Be-Awuribe
  10. Greater Accra Region: Linda Ocloo, MP

Ghana is made up of 16 administrative regions, but the reason for the delay in selecting ministerial nominees for the remaining six regions has not yet been disclosed.

The ten nominees bring a broad range of experience and expertise from various sectors, including governance, public service, education, and healthcare.

Their appointments are pending parliamentary approval, in accordance with constitutional requirements.
