Social media in Nigeria is filled with grief following the shocking murder of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, allegedly beheaded by her boyfriend, Timileyin Ajayi, a gospel singer.

Ajayi, 27, was arrested on Sunday after being caught carrying Adaidu’s severed head in a bag near a church in Nasarawa state.

According to reports, people noticed the bag and confronted him, leading to his arrest by police.

Further investigation revealed additional body parts of Adaidu at his residence.

Ajayi has not made a public statement regarding the allegations.

Police spokesman Ramhan Nansel confirmed that Ajayi was apprehended with the head, and authorities intervened to prevent him from being mobbed.

Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Abuja, was mourned by her family, with her mother suffering from the shock of the loss, as she had recently lost her husband.

A close friend of Adaidu, Abby Simon, expressed heartbreak over the tragedy, stating, “Nobody deserves to die this way. Even if she was his girlfriend, she didn’t deserve to die this way.”
