Mahama orders recall of Diplomatic and Service Passports issued by previous administration

The Ghanaian government has issued a directive requiring the recall of all Diplomatic and Service Passports issued under the previous administration.

This measure, announced on January 14, 2025, is aimed at ensuring proper management and use of official travel documents in line with national and international standards.

The directive underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s passport system, preventing misuse, and protecting the country’s reputation in diplomatic matters.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to notify passport holders to return their documents for verification and possible re-issuance.

A compliance deadline has been set for January 24, 2025, after which the returned passports will be reviewed to confirm eligibility. Passport holders seeking clarification can reach out to the Office of the President.
