Residents of Sek/T’di react to the vandalism of President Akuffo’s statue
A cross-section of residents in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metro have expressed varied reactions to the destruction of the statue of former President Akuffo Addo by unknown persons at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout.
Former President Akuffo Addo’s statue was unveiled on November 6, 2024, in his honour.
However, the statue remained a symbol of contention in the community.
Some residents spoke to Beach Newsroom.
“His inaction on key issues has sparked widespread outrage among Ghanaians, serving as a bitter lesson for his party to learn from.”
” Honestly, I’m not losing any sleep over the demolition of Akufo-Addo’s statue – in fact, I’m pretty thrilled about it. I mean, who even decided to put it up in the first place? It’s not like he’s done anything remarkable for this region, or even the capital, Takoradi, to warrant such an honor.
The interchange isn’t even finished yet! It just feels like he doesn’t deserve to be celebrated like this, especially since he hasn’t really made a positive impact on our community. To be frank, his presence hasn’t made a significant difference here,”
