Young Elephants of the NPP to investigate factors leading to the party’s electoral defeat

President of the Young Elephant Study Group, a youth-centred wing within the New Patriotic Party, Ababio Kumi, says it has begun a probe into the defeat of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr. Ababio, in an exclusive interview on Spice FM, noted that this initiative is to establish the root cause of the party’s poor performance in the just-ended elections.

According to him, the group is voluntary, made up of young party folks who have the interest of the party at heart. He said the research is to help the party ascertain the shortfalls that brought about the defeat and to re-strategise for the next elections in 2028.

Already, the New Patriotic Party has instituted an 11-member committee to work in such an area, but the group maintains that their research will complement that of the committee.

Amongst the areas to look into are the low voter turnouts amongst some party faithful, lack of understanding of some of the government’s policies and others.

Mr. Ababio Kumi noted that this research will help them correct wrongs as the party prepares for the 2028 elections.
