Statue of Former President Akufo-Addo at Effia Nkwanta vandalized again
The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, situated at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region, has been completely vandalized.
This marks the second time the monument, unveiled to honor the former president’s contributions during his tenure, has been damaged.
The first incident occurred on December 16, 2024, when unknown individuals damaged the statue’s leg. Although authorities promptly repaired it, no arrests were made, and the motives behind the attack remained unclear.
The latest act of vandalism comes less than a week after Akufo-Addo’s departure from office, leaving the statue completely toppled.
Erected during the presidency of Akufo-Addo, the statue was intended to symbolize the government’s commitment to improving healthcare and infrastructure in the Western Region. Its location near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital served as a reminder of efforts to enhance access to medical care and resources in underserved communities.
