MP for Amenfi West prioritizes human and infrastructural development in the Western Region

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi West Constituency, Eric Afful, has promised significant development in the Western Region, focusing on both infrastructure and human capital growth.

In an interview on Beach FM, Mr. Afful highlighted the region’s vast resources but pointed out that it has yet to experience substantial development, particularly in certain areas.

He emphasized that the region should fully capitalize on its natural resource wealth.

Mr. Afful assured that the NDC government remains committed to driving development for the people of the Western Region.

“Because there are certain things people expect that the NPP was not able to do it, refuse because they had a capacity. You see when you come to the Western region, we have all the resources. be it gold, timber, and oil.

So do you know that in West Africa, the chief producer of boards and plywood come from Samartex Company Limited, in the western region?

So we need to develop the western region, this time I’m assuring everybody that the western region will see a lot of infrastructural development.

In terms of human resources, we are going to develop people within the region. We make sure that the oil, the gold, the timber that we have in the western region has been put to good use,”

Mr. Eric Afful said, as part of his legacy, that he wishes to see the complete road construction in the Constituency because the roads are in bad shape.

He forecasted human development to take 50 percent of his project during his tenure in office.

Mr. Afful recounted some of his achievements in the constituency.

He said, ” You see, I’ve told you that in Amenfi West, one of our major problems is road infrastructure. And lo and behold, we started it in 2016 when I became a member of parliament. We will make sure that the contractors will come back and complete this project. And this will be monumental that if Amenfi West, roads should be put in a good shape, I think, and Eric Afful will be remembered in the history of the constituency, western region and Ghana as a whole.

Now we make sure we complete the rural electrification project that we left that NPP wasn’t able to even touch one community, make sure we’ll do that. Our health infrastructure—there was a government, hospital that was initiated in 2016, which I think we are going to complete at Wassa Dunkwa.

So we’re going to do a lot. You see, now human development will take about 50% of my project for the next 4 years because we need to make sure that we develop our human resources so that the things in the constituency will be fine to work. And we talk about security as well. I bought about 3 police stations within the 8 years.

As a member of parliament, not from the assembly, I built 3 police stations. one at Asankabreman, one at Wassa Dunkwa, one at Mumuni. Mumuni is about 40% complete. I’ll make sure all these things will be put into good use to also pave with a whole security system in the constituency.”
