The public is being entreated to continue to observe safety protocols such as good hygiene practices in the form of proper hand washing and keeping a clean environment, amongst others, in a bid to eliminate the spread of cholera further.
In an interview with Obeng Darko on Spice FM, the Regional Health Promotion Officer, Daniel Bomfey, gave an update on the situational report in response to a cholera outbreak in the Western Region; he said there are no new confirmed cases.
However, there are 6 people on admission. He reveals that there were over 2,000 cholera cases, with 339 cases which went under testing, 123 confirmed cases, and 2,195 individuals having recovered.
Meanwhile, 19 deaths were reported as of January 7, 2025.
Mr Daniel Bomfey disclosed that the ban on the sale of vegetables by food vendors had been lifted, even though the Regional Environmental Department has not issued any official documents to that effect.
He commended the media, especially Spice FM, for its routine up-to-date education on the outbreak.
