CLOGSAG warns of industrial action in response to forced evictions by armed thugs

The leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has warned of potential industrial action in response to the forced eviction of its members by armed assailants.

CLOGSAG officials have accused armed individuals of forcibly evicting several association members from their official residences in Accra, leaving many displaced and causing significant damage to properties.

In light of these events, CLOGSAG leadership has issued a stern warning, stating that they will resort to industrial action unless the authorities take immediate action to address the situation.

Mr. Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged sale of government properties, a practice they believe has contributed to the suffering of the affected civil servants.

“It is the responsibility of the police to protect them. This has been going on since Friday night. By this time, they should have taken over the areas giving them police protection but so far nothing has been done.

That is why we are calling on the IGP as a matter of urgency, to give them protection, or else we will advise ourselves. We will lay down our tools, we cannot work in such an environment,” he stated.

CLOGSAG has reported that other residences in Roman Ridge, Ridge, Labone, and Kuku Hill (Osu) have also been targeted by the armed individuals.
