President Mahama promises to rejuvenate Ghana’s development

President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to adopt a renewed approach to governance, with the goal of reinvigorating Ghana’s development and advancement.

In his inaugural speech at the Black Star Square, President Mahama highlighted the significance of democracy and effective governance, asserting that the power of governments comes from the people.

Citing former US President Ronald Reagan, he remarked, “governments have no power except that granted by the people.”

While appreciating Ghana’s flourishing democracy, President Mahama acknowledged the discontent among Ghanaians regarding the quality of governance.

“Our people also understand that democracy is not just a token adorned with periodic elections. They expect that if democracy is celebrated as a superior means of governance, then its outcomes must be more tangible and benefit them in their individual lives,” he said.

President Mahama also acknowledged the economic challenges facing Ghana but expressed hope for a better future.

“Today should mark the beginning of a new opportunity, an opportunity for us to make a difference in our governance and our economic management,” he stated.

As he embarks on his second term, President Mahama committed to addressing critical challenges such as corruption, fostering economic growth, and investing in key sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, and education.
