The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has highlighted the pivotal role President John Dramani Mahama’s performance will play in shaping the party’s future electoral success.
Speaking at President Mahama’s inauguration in Accra on Tuesday, January 7, Nketiah linked the NDC’s chances in the 2028 elections directly to the success of the current administration.
“The NDC’s 2028 electoral fortunes will largely hinge on President Mahama’s performance. If he succeeds, it creates numerous opportunities. However, failure could make even the most ambitious candidates shy away from contesting,” Nketiah remarked.
He called on party members to channel their energy into supporting the President’s administration, emphasizing that its success would establish a strong foundation for future candidates.
“Our focus should be on ensuring President Mahama’s success, so that whoever follows him as our flagbearer has a solid platform to secure victory,” he added.
Addressing party members with political aspirations, Asiedu Nketiah urged them to prioritize the administration’s achievements over personal ambitions.
“To all who have future ambitions, let me caution: your actions today must not undermine President Mahama’s success. The priority now is to ensure that his tenure is exceptionally successful, paving the way for his successor,” he concluded.
