New Force Leader donates GHC 50,000 to Kantamanto fire victims
Nana Kwame Bediako, the founder and leader of the New Force Movement, also known in business circles as Cheddar, has donated GHC 50,000 to victims of the Kantamanto Market fire that broke out on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The devastating blaze tore through the Kantamanto Market, a well-known hub for secondhand clothing in Accra, destroying shops and goods worth millions of cedis within hours.
The affected traders, visibly distressed, are now grappling with their losses after the fire was brought under control.
During his visit to the scene, Cheddar addressed the media, urging stakeholders to come together to support the market’s reconstruction.
He presented GHC 50,000 to the victims and expressed his commitment to assisting in the market’s rebuilding. He also called on the government to take steps to prevent future incidents, suggesting the introduction of an insurance system.
“I plead with the government including the Assemblymen, Mayor, and decision-makers in this area, to direct attention to this place. Let’s put measures in place.
Insurance is very critical. Whatever amount of money traders here are charged, an insurance scheme should be added, no matter the size of a shop to protect the traders,” Nana Kwame Bediako stated.
