President Akufo-Addo set to deliver his final State of the Nation Address today
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, ahead of the dissolution of the 8th Parliament.
In line with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, this address will provide the President’s final assessment of the nation’s progress before his term concludes.
The 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic will officially come to an end on Monday, January 6, 2025. On the same day, the 9th Parliament will convene at 11:00 PM to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.
A statement from the Parliamentary Service notes that the Speaker-elect and newly elected Members of Parliament will be sworn in at midnight, marking the commencement of the new parliamentary term.
Parliament has urged media personnel to secure accreditation in advance to facilitate seamless coverage of these significant events.
