Independence Square to be closed for President-elect Mahama’s inauguration preparations

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced the temporary closure of Independence Square and its surrounding areas ahead of the swearing-in ceremony for President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

The closure, which will be enforced by National Security, begins at midnight on December 31, 2024, and will remain until January 8, 2025.

Deputy Minister Mark Okraku Mantey stated that the closure is necessary for the inauguration arrangements.

The public and tourists are advised to take note of the closure and comply with the directive.
