CHASS urges MoE to release outstanding funds for SHS operations ahead of 2025 academic year
The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has urged the Ministry of Education to promptly release outstanding funds essential for the effective operation of Senior High Schools (SHSs) across Ghana, ahead of the 2025 academic year.
In a statement signed by CHASS National Secretary, Primus Baro, the association referenced previous letters sent on September 20, 2024, and August 12, 2024, along with assurances made by the Education Minister during a Zoom meeting on December 18, 2024.
However, despite these commitments, the funds remain unpaid.
CHASS expressed concern that arrears for perishable items, unpaid utility bills, and other critical expenses are severely hindering the day-to-day operations of schools.
The association emphasized that these funds are vital for ensuring that schools can reopen smoothly on January 3, 2025. Without them, school leaders will face significant challenges in maintaining infrastructure, delivering quality education, and ensuring students’ well-being.
CHASS is calling on both the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education to prioritize the release of these funds to prevent disruptions in the upcoming academic year.
