Tensions flared at the Assemblies of God Church polling station in the Ablekuma West Constituency, Greater Accra Region, as a pickup truck carrying breakfast food packs was driven away amidst loud protests from some voters.

The food was reportedly provided by the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who is seeking re-election against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Kweku Addo.

According to those in the vehicle, the breakfast was intended for polling and electoral officials, not voters.

Doris Boakye, an NPP member in Ablekuma West, explained the situation, saying, “We just brought food [for breakfast] for our polling agents and the EC officials, but the NDC supporters are asking us to take the vehicle out.

The food is from Ursula Owusu. It’s not for voters, so there shouldn’t be a problem.”

However, tensions escalated as NDC members voiced concerns, leading to the intervention of police officers at the scene to restore order.
